A breast cancer nodule, or lump, can feel hard, firm, and solid, and it may have irregular edges. It may also feel different from the surrounding breast tissue. However, some breast cancer lumps can be soft and smooth. It can be hard to feel a lump that’s smaller than a centimeter in diameter.
