The Indian city of Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand is a sacred city of Hinduism. A place of pilgrimage, the religious festival of Kumbh Mela is organized there every 12 years. The faithful bathe in the ganges which crosses the city. It has approximately 175,000 inhabitants.
