Natural killers, also natural killers, NK cells are a type of cytotoxic lymphocytes involved in the functioning of innate immunity. NK cells provide a response to infection with intracellular bacteria and viruses, destroying infected cells, and also take part in the work of anti-tumor immunity. Unlike other immune cells, NK cells recognize infected cells without the involvement of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on their membrane, as well as antibodies, making the NK-mediated response very fast.
