Tizourgane is a fortified village located in the western Anti-Atlas mountains, within the province of Chtouka-Aït Baha in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco. Perched on a rocky summit at approximately 1150 meters above sea level, Tizourgane offers breathtaking views of the Atlas mountain range. The village consists of around fifty houses, assembled from rubble. Its history is rich, although there are no written records. The inhabitants were mainly sedentary, relying on their fields and livestock for sustenance. Tizourgane was almost abandoned after a climate catastrophe in the 1970s and 80s due to extremely low rainfall. Today, it stands as a testament to Berber heritage and resilience.
